Federation works for cohesive Jewish community

The Santa Barbara Jewish Federation (SBJF) has been in operation since 1974. Our mission is to create and advance a cohesive Jewish community in Santa Barbara and to promote cooperative relationships among Jewish organizations and between the Jewish community and the community at large. Holding fast to the values of charity, justice and healing the world, we offer programs and services for the entire Santa Barbara community in our new Jewish Community Center (JCCSB).

Youth Programs

  • Ages 12-14 — Weekly and monthly social and educational programs, including trips and weekend retreats.

  • Ages 7-10 — Ongoing classes and cultural learning opportunities for children and families.

  • Infants and Toddlers — Weekly Mommy and Me gatherings.

    Adult Education

  • Extensive and varied educational programs provided to the community, including:

  • Public lectures on topics such as Middle East, women's health, bio-ethics and spirituality;

  • Distinguished Lecture Series, semi-annual classes featuring area rabbis, Hebrew courses and Israeli Dancing;

  • Missions to Israel.

    Jewish Family Service

  • JFS is dedicated to strengthening and preserving the quality of individual and family life in Santa Barbara. JFS offers a vital Senior Program, case management services, financial assistance and Friends For Life, a volunteer program serving homebound individuals.

    Jewish Community Relations Council

  • JCRC builds understanding in the community through promoting relationships among Jewish and other ethnic and religious groups. The JCRC participates in the Building Bridges Committee, working with 40 community organizations to create racial and ethnic harmony and bring together diverse cultures.

    Santa Barbara Jewish Festival

  • The festival attracts 5,000 people annually from Santa Barbara and outlying areas for fun, cultural exchange, food, music and dancing.

    Art at the JCC

  • Exhibits work by local artists and brings traveling shows for cultural enrichment and repair of the world, featuring works by and for children and adults.

    Joint Programs

  • The SBJF collaborates with many community organizations to co-sponsor important educational and cultural events in our community.

    Community Organizations

  • The JCCSB provides a venue for meetings and events for organizations throughout greater Santa Barbara.

  • A bi-monthly publication serving 3,000 households and businesses, providing information on services and events throughout the local Jewish community and around the world.
