BEDFORD, Constance Elsie (Curzon)

peacefully passed away October 24, 2005. Connie was born in Santa Barbara in 1917 and attended local schools. She traveled around the world but never called anywhere else home.

Despite losing her father in 1920, she was raised in a warm and loving family. With her Uncle Jack coming from England they had everything a family needed. They even helped others less fortunate during times of need. Connie's mother passed away when she was only 21 and she quickly found herself out in the world.

She met and married Oliver Bedford a year later. Together they ran the family poultry business on Haley Street from 1939 to 1945. During this time they raised two children, Carol Ann and Donald. They moved to Fresno for a brief time to operate a Squirt Soda distribution and had their second son, Robert. They then returned to Santa Barbara and became involved in the rental housing market, as active members in the SB Rental Property Association, and build their dream home in Mission Canyon.

Connie's greatest pleasure was her family. She was always helping in whatever way possible and always had a kind and loving manner. She never spoke ill of anyone and was the first to help. Connie's quiet nature was a harmonizing influence on both her immediate and extended family. All that knew her loved her; she was always respectful of others, until the day she passed she touched people in this way.

Connie was preceded in death by her brother, Stuart Curzon, her husband, Oliver Colvie Bedford and son Donald Oliver Bedford. She is survived by her daughter Carol Ann (Bedford) Prober, her husband Paul Prober and their children Melissa Prober and Jeff Prober and his wife Anna (O'Bourke) Prober, and great granddaughter Ava Paloma Prober all of Santa Barbara. Also by her son Robert Bedford, his wife Carol (Price) Bedford and their children Jason Robert and Timothy Colvie, all of Santa Barbara.

Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 1, at 1:30 p.m. at the Santa Barbara Cemetery.

CORDERO, Daniel V.

"And he will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying or pain, the first things have passed away."

Rev 21:4

Danny died peacefully October 17, 2005, at Valley View Estates Care Center in Hamilton, Montana at the age of 85 with his beloved daughter Linda by his side. Danny was one of five children, Francisco, Mary, Arthur and Henry, born to Francisco Cordero, and Martha Cota. Danny was a seventh generation descendent of Mariano Cordero, a soldier that arrived in Santa Barbara with Fr. Juanipero Serra and helped with the establishment of the Presidio and Mission de Santa Barbara. Danny, born January 3, 1920, was orphaned at a young age and with his brothers spent time at St. Vincent and Watsonville orphanages; upon his return from Watsonville in 1938, Danny became the "glue" that kept his family together by joining the Civilian Conservation Corps and working in northern California. Shortly after returning to Santa Barbara in 1940, he met and fell in love with Margaret Loretta Leyva. The couple were married April 19th, 1941, and shared 41 years together until Margaret's death on January 2, 1982. Danny is survived by his four children, Danny (Barbara) of Carpinteria, Reggie of Santa Barbara, Michael (Charisse) of Carpinteria, and his only daughter Linda Lemp (Steven) of Hamilton, Montana, 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. In 1983, Danny married Mary Gorgita and they began a marriage of 18 years. During their marriage, they relocated to Montana to be close to his daughter and in December 2001, Mary was called to take her place with the Lord. Danny was a veteran of the United States Navy and served his country valiantly in the South Pacific during W.W. II where his ship took part in many invasions including the battle for Okinawa. Danny worked 29 years at Petan and Arden Dairies, and then Santa Barbara High School, and he had many friends in many places. He loved "chicken fried chicken," "Big Band music," a good game of poker, and hated those idiots (news) on T.V. Danny was quick of wit and joke and always met each of life's endeavors at full steam ahead. The family would like to thank the wonderful Valley View staff that cared for our Dad with so much love and compassion in his care. Funeral arrangements were provided by Daly-Leach Chapel of Hamilton, Montana. A memorial service for Danny in Santa Barbara is pending. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Diabetes Research Center of Santa Barbara or the Alzheimer's Association would be appreciated.

LORIGO, Steven

He is survived by two daughters Raylene and Stephanie Lorigo, and one granddaughter Kaylene Lorigo. He is also survived by his mother Grace Carter, his father Andy Lorigo, sisters Annette Di Nardo, Kim Diaz, Selina and Pepe Lorigo and many aunts, uncles, nieces nephews and cousins. Steve was preceded in death by his brother Mark Carter and sister Alicia Barba.

Steve was a good friend and a loving father who will be missed by all.

The memorial will be held Saturday at 5pm at The 7th Day Adventist Church at 425 Arroyo Rd., SB; 967-9615. The family has requested that donations be sent to the church for the Steven Lorigo fund.

WALKER, Bert

82, of Oxnard, died peacefully at home in his sleep October 18th, 2005. He will be remembered for his kindness, sense of humor, love of people and new experiences and most importantly as a loving friend, husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Dee, son Bill Walker, wife Cindy and children John, Tara and Darren of Bend Oregon, son Jim, wife Christy and children Megan and Morgan of Simi Valley, and daughter Kim Faulkner and son Josh Garver of Santa Barbara. A Celebration of Bert's life will be held at the River Ridge Golf Club House Sunday, November 6th at noon.

YANAGIHARA, Michiko

Born in Tokyo, Japan on September 8, 1941, Michiko Yanagihara passed away on October 16, 2005. She is survived by her husband Harry, daughter Wendy, son Jason, brothers Tetsuro Yamamoto, Toshinori Yamamoto, Tsuneo Maekawa, sister Shigeko Takahashi, and many nieces and nephews.

Michiko was absolutely devoted to her family, making it the center of her life. She couldn't do enough for her children, raising them with love, support, and her unceasing focused time and energy. She emphasized the importance of an education, and sacrificed her own comforts to ensure that both of her children had access to the best schools they could attend. She reveled in their accomplishments, large and small.

Michiko had a beautiful, beaming smile a musical laugh, and a unique sense of humor. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2002, and though it was a blow to her strong sense of self, she met the challenge with characteristic stamina and patience. She lived uncomplainingly with own pains and problems, preferring to keep them to herself rather than burdening others. She never asked for anything from anyone, and had an enduring sense of pride and fierce independence. Throughout her illness she never complained, but instead faced each day with her formidable inner strength. She was extremely pleased and proud to have survived long enough to see her son receive a MBA from USC.

A private graveside service was held at the Carpinteria Cemetery, under the direction of Welch-Ryce-Haider Funeral Chapels.
